The Greater Whitsunday region has secured funding to support implementation of priority actions under the Regional Drought Resilience Plan.
The program includes a dedicated coordinator and a suite of projects focused on strengthening drought preparedness and regional resilience.
Key initiatives will review water security for small towns within the region, improve drought monitoring and early warning indicators, strengthen coordination of drought support programs, support engagement with Traditional Owners in water planning, and develop vulnerability risk profiles to better understand community impacts. Together, these projects aim to strengthen the region’s capacity to anticipate, manage and recover from drought.
