The WIM Water Alliance (WIMWA) met in Proserpine on 27 February 2026, bringing together water professionals from Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday councils to share operational insights and advance regional collaboration.
Discussions highlighted lessons from recent flood and cyclone events, progress on smart sewer monitoring and treatment initiatives, and the successful early delivery of the Smart Water Meter Playbook. The meeting reinforced the value of regional knowledge sharing and coordinated projects to strengthen resilience, asset management and workforce capability across the Greater Whitsunday water sector.
The photos above depict the Smart Sewer AI installation in Sarina. These have been installed across the entire region and will form a collaborative effort to improve planning around the impacts of inflow and infiltration.
